Sona Gevorkian: A Lasting Legacy of Armenian Dance

Sona Gevorkian of Gevorkian Dance Academy in Los Angeles recognizes that "it is through art that cultures come together."

As a choreographer and dance instructor at the Gevorkian Dance Academy, Sona leverages dance to connect her students to their Armenian culture and ancestral roots. The Gevorkian Dance Academy was established in 1995 by Sona’s parents, Vartan and Siranush Gevorkian. Since its inception they’ve had numerous successful concert tours, including three consecutive sold out performances at the National Academic Theatre of Opera and Ballet in Yerevan.

From the legacy of her family to the lessons she bestows upon her students, watch the first full episode of "The Armenian Within", a MIASEEN Inc. Original as Sona dances us through her story.
